Tourist Route Development in Lebanon
Lebanese villages have great tourism potential. Most villages have Roman, Phoenician, Crusader heritage, etc. Lebanese and international visitors will benefit greatly from a wealth of history.
The aim of developing the route is to encourage local Lebanese families and international visitors to travel for a week-end or day trip along a proposed tourist route from either Byblos or El Batroune up to Mayfouq. As a result, encouraging some economic activity related to tourism within the villages.
The route has cultural, artistic, historic and religious sites along the way, not to mention spectacular sea and mountain views. Visitors will also learn about the Lebanese heritage and history as they go through the villages. The route makes emphasis on Mayfouq and its historical relevance particularly to the Maronite history. Visitors can enjoy the natural setting and have Lebanese meals or snacks along the way at shops or homes that cater for visitors. Visitors will taste the excellent organic quality of food and drink in the villages.
Reledev wishes to thank the Wadi Kannoubine Charitable Association for helping raise funds for this initiative.
In particular, we thank the Wadi Kannoubine Charitable Association for their contribution towards installing signages in Maad, Mayfouk and Smar Jbeil. These have been installed in June 2009.
Signage will: direct visitors to villages along the road, provide information about the villages and historic sites in each village. They are written in English and Arabic. It shows a map of the whole route so visitors don't get lost in the district.
Our thanks to Raymond Younan, President of the Wadi Kannoubine Charitable Association Inc. and all their supportive members for their support.
